The trapezoidal sheets or roofing tiles might not get installed immediately after delivery. The steel sheets are by default quite durable products, however, if you want to ensure their durability in the long term, some simple, but unavoidable ground rule considerations must be followed.
Avoiding physical damage to the products
- We must take great care to prevent damage to the metal sheets, therefore, during shipping, we recommend you move or lift the products carefully only by hand, or with a ratchet strap, without the use of ropes or chains; and when storing the products, don’t put too many panels on top of each other
- Scratches, dents, warps, bends, or cracks to the panels should be prevented not only during moving the products, but also when storing them
- You should not store the products in hard-to-notice locations, where it can be mistakenly stepped on, or ran over with vehicles.
- Panels should not be slid on each other to prevent surface damage to the panels
Storage tips
Panels should be stored in a dry and well-ventilated space. This is a necessary precaution, as panels must be protected from any kind of humidity such as dew.
Panels should be stored slightly slanted, which helps humidity, such as dew drip down the surface of the panel. It can also help if the panels are stored at least 20 cm above ground so water damage can be prevented.
Professional storage of trapezoidal sheets
- Since the material of high-quality trapezoidal sheets or roof tiles is steel, during storage it must not get in contact with copper. This would start electrochemical corrosion, which damages panels significantly.
- Panels which were produced with a protective film should be stripped of the film at most after one month of storage
Panels cannot be stored indefinitely; they should be installed within one month. Otherwise, the incurred surface damage (discoloration, spotting, mold) can’t be grounds for claims.
If you follow these guidelines, the sheets will be still in perfect condition and ready for installation even after storage periods, whether their intended application is roofing or facading material for any kind of building.
